This contemporary black and white photography depicts a nude woman in a brewery. Composed of near monochromatic tones, the artwork consists of both warm and cool hues.

This unlikely scenario both celebrates and makes light of the history of sensual imagery. Emily’s statuesque figure is iconic in the genre. Her long blonde hair is a symbol of femininity.

Small details populate the tableaux. A scale on the brew tank whimsically meanders between the same few numbers. Various valves and spigots adorn the chrome pipes. Reflections are everywhere in the mirrored surfaces.

Contemporary black and white photography of the female nude can be analyzed along several facets. While some are anonymous studies of form, this image presents the character as a protagonist in a narrative. This artwork prefers crisp edges over amorphous forms. And the monochrome treatment is nearly devoid of color, save subtle warming and cooling.
