Description

This is a photographic art print, nude woman, and a celebration of beauty. The figure is framed by intricately detailed water. Contrasting salmon and turquoise hues make an exclamation among the circular ripples reverberating through vivid blue waters. The shallow water slightly obscures the entirety of her figure. She floats with sheets of water streaming off her torso as if she has just emerged. She is still enveloped in liquid; her nose and mouth breaking through. Tiny ripple bathe her closed eyes. Her hair streams out from her head.

In this art print, a nude woman is flanked by turquoise on either side. The large expanse of bold colors is imposing. Subtle waves emanate from her hips. Points of dazzling white punctuate the intricately moving aquamarine. Patterns of refraction are visible on both the surface and the pool floor below.

Her upper body is elongated and appears directly below the vantage point, with legs receding in a steep perspective. This point of view gives a dramatic feeling of closeness and flying directly above the figure.

Although there is little frame of reference, it is evident the woman floats in a swimming pool, evident through the appearance of shallow water, the uniform blue color, and patterns of light. These visual cues give the image a lighthearted mood, celebrating beauty, summer, and diversion. Open palms and outstretched arms emphasize the relaxed mood. For many, swimming and floating symbolize a refuge from the trials of life, a moment of physical isolation in which the senses of touch and sound are insulated.

From time to time we need to escape reality. The interplay of light and shadow is a tangle of undefined moving parts: liquid frozen for an imaginary moment. Like an actor on a stage, she plays a role in creating the myth of the perfect moment: a nostalgic story, frozen in time. The image uses familiar symbolism, creating a fantasy, a metaphor for the celebration of beauty, pleasure, and indulgence.
