An entertaining mythological battle of good versus evil is just beginning. In this fantasy art nude, an unsuspecting angel is pierced at the knees by a horned adversary. The assault and wounds are symbolic, reflected only slightly in the two poses. The attack is obscured, our attention drawn to the dominant gestures of the bodies. The assailant’s “natural” weapons are concealed in an abundance of red hair. Her spiraling horns contrast with the smooth arcs of the angel’s wings. The winged figure is untraditionally dark-haired and her feathers appear more ethereal than physical.

Finished stone textures juxtapose natural and manufactured worlds. This duality is further illustrated by the division between crisp lines in the lower portion of the picture and the hazy forms above. A band on gray at the bottom fifth provides a somber platform for the figure. Above that, horizontal lines are repeated in the railings that run halfway up the image, behind the bodies, transitioning between the structure and the sky and nature in the distance.

Lush, golden clouds hang over the sunset in and lapis lazuli sky like in a romantic painting. A castle spire materializes in the background. Echoes of Maxfield Parrish and Jerry Uelsmann influence the colors and structure of this fantasy art nude. The use of idyllic, saturated colors and idealized forms creates a harmonious, fairytale-like feeling. The idealized neo-classical imagery of the castle, rooftop terrace, and supernatural beings, enhance this sense. The billowing clouds and rich glowing earth tones take us to a magical world. The fantasy milieu connects with the adolescent in us all.

A mix of organic and manufactured elements come together in an unlikely harmony. This contemporary fantasy art nude brings together tension, drama, and movement under a range of pleasing earth tones and pastel neutrals.
