Studio Nude

A nod to classic studio nudes photography, typically one central figure is presented in an expanse of empty space, free of distraction. Free of excess and inspired by the sparse indoor compositions of Ruth Bernhard, Herb Ritts, Horst P. Horst, and Richard Avedon. These presentations have the advantage of meticulous lighting and deliberate technique. Rather than relying on a scene to communicate a concept, the illumination of the negative space round the models creates an atmosphere that sets the mood for each image. Some are bright and airy while others are shadowy and mysterious.

More than just a cataloging of female subjects, these images present the nude form as an academic study. Geometry, anatomy, and photography all collide to form aesthetically pleasing compositions that also endeavor to stir the soul.
